In 2009 Homer Animal Friends provided funds to assist with the spay/neuter of 454 cats and dogs.
The total amount paid through coupons was $20,815.
Our Spay/Neuter programs helped prevent the birth of 2,720 dogs and cats.

Pet overpopulation - when there's too much of a good thing.

Each year, between 6-8 million dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, are turned in to animal shelters around the country. Some are lost, some are abandoned, some are unwanted, most are the result of irresponsible ownership and uncontrolled breeding.

Sadly nearly 3-4 million of those animals have to be euthanatized because there aren't enough good homes for all of them. (statistics from The National Council on Pet Population, Study and Policy)

Help solve the problem by spaying or neutering your dog or cat.

Homer Animal Friends offers the following spay/neuter programs:

1. Animal Shelter Coupons (Homer Veterinary Clinic is the only office authorized to accept Homer Animal Friends coupons.)

Owner pays a pre-determined amount to the shelter at time of adoption and a spay/neuter coupon is given to the owner
The owner makes an appointment at the Homer Vet Clinic
Coupon must be presented to the Homer Vet Clinic at time of service

2. Spay/Neuter Coupon available to any dog or cat owner within our service area
(Kachemak Bay north to Ninilchik). The coupons help offset the veterinary charge
for the spay/neuter of your pet.

3. Coupons for those on public assistance (must have coupon or disability paperwork)

$10 co-pay (the balance paid by Homer Animal Friends)

4. Coupons for multiple dogs (dog teams or kennels)

Coupons available by calling 235-SPAY
Coupon amount $30 each dog

5. Coupons for low income owners

Owners must be interviewed by Homer Animal Friends spay/neuter chairman - call 235-SPAY and leave a message
